Without volunteers Goodhue County Habitat for humanity would not be able to help people in need purchase a home. Our homes are mostly built by volunteers. But, our volunteer opportunities are not limited to swinging a hammer, mudding drywall, painting walls, or installing baseboards. There are many levels needed to successfully complete a Habitat house: from selecting a family, to supporting that family before and after they are in their home; from ordering the materials, to paying the bills, and more.
Listed below are some of the ways you can get involved with Goodhue Habitat to help in our mission to try to eliminate poverty. If you are interested in volunteering, have a question, or simply want more information, please contact the office by e-mail, email@example.com or phone 651-327-2195.
Build a Home
Work alongside a family building their home. We may put you to work doing anything from painting a wall to pounding nails, roofing or planting flowers. Here is a link to our current project:
If you are looking for a meaningful way to serve others and your community, A Brush With Kindness (ABWK) can provide you and/or your group the opportunity to help someone maintain their home. ABWK connects teams of volunteers from churches, businesses, and community groups to homeowners in need.
As a volunteer you will get to see the project through to the end, and you will work on a project that fits your group’s abilities and commitment.
Volunteer groups are asked to sponsor the cost of the materials used on the home repair project upon which they work. Partial sponsorships may be available, teaming two or more volunteer groups to meet fundraising goals and complete the project. Sponsorships provide the basic resources necessary to purchase materials, secure permits, and provide supervision and support.
Why do we ask for a sponsorship fee before initiating an ABWK project? When Goodhue County Habitat for Humanity offers hope to someone in need we want to be certain we make good on that promise. Our continuing capacity to serve as many deserving families as possible relies on our ability to budget for and complete construction projects in an efficient manner. Goodhue County Habitat for Humanity’s sponsorship packages are focused around three basic needs – accessibility, sustainability, and weatherization.
We’re happy to speak to your group and assist in generating marketing materials, and any other help you may need with fundraising.
Help plan dedications, work a booth, raise funds, or participate in the 500 bike race.
Stuff envelopes, answer phones, set up databases, write letters and more. Work as much or as little as you like, we’re flexible.
Serve on a Committee
We have a variety of committees that have openings for people that can donate a few hours a month to help Habitat carry its mission forward.
Need an internship? Depending on our needs we may be accepting resumes. Interns have helped on many different projects including marketing, paperwork, and construction.
